Do you believe in the maxim… “Get out while you’re ahead”?
Most of us live our lives like we’re in Vegas.
Our lifestyles, our careers, our relationships, our vices… in every aspect of our lives, we live like we’re at the gambling table… on a winning streak.
The unfortunate reality that we live with today, is that everything we do adds to stress in our lives.
We breathe in polluted air. And take long stressful drives to our workplace.
We keep extra long hours at the workplace… in a vitriolic work environment.
We eat too much junk food. Or we hardly eat at all.
We exercise too little. We frown too much.
We hardly sleep. We’re always in a hurry.
We are addicted to mobile phones. With little time for social interaction.
We spend less time with our loved ones. And more time watching television programming that makes our blood boil.
We shout too much. And laugh too little.
We spend our day sharing false smiles with people who do not matter to us. We take for granted, those who do.
Yet, our goal seems just beyond our reach, so we push on. And push our luck.
“I want to earn just a little more money.”
“Just one more promotion”
“I’ll eat healthy tomorrow.”
“I’m too tired today. I will definitely exercise later.”
Phrases that we use, to justify procrastination of our responsibility towards ourselves.
The reality of being a gambler, is that eventually, you WILL GO BUST. And then it will be too late.
One of the key lessons of life that I have learned, is to let go while you’re still in the driving seat.
Of what use is money, a designation and power, if you are in no position to enjoy it?
The funny thing is that whatever you have, it is never enough till you decide it is.
Let go and enjoy your life a little more… while you still can.
Get out while you’re ahead. Or all you will be left with is regret. And nothing is more expensive than that.
