In search of happiness
Searching for happiness… in all the wrong places
We are hoarders by nature. Collecting little tidbits, charms, gizmos, gadgets, money, respect, memories… Relentlessly. Fanatically.
Building up an imaginary showcase in our minds, of little totems that supposedly signify happiness.
Trying desperately to cling on to the fleeting high that we get from every new toy that we accumulate.
The million-dollar question (pardon the irony) is ‘Does that bring you true happiness?’
Happiness stems not from the fact that you own so much, make so much money, achieve glorious feats, or have such a great designation.
It stems from being content on the inside… not outside.
In our obsession to get bigger, better and faster, we forget, that to look for happiness outside us, is like looking for a brilliant day on a beautiful moonlit night, looking for diamonds in a gold mine, looking for a moving piece of art in a sculpture exhibit.
You are already immersed in beauty. Yet, you choose to look for it elsewhere.
All the happiness you ever need, resides in you.
The sooner you realize that, the sooner you will find it.
